Why everybody loves Wengen?

Wengen is a small village on the Swiss Alps. Famous for its timber chalets and belle époque hotels, it offers entertainment for the whole family and for every season.

Winter

People come to Wengen to enjoy winter sports like ski, ice-skating and toboggan, looking forward to indulging in some warming Glühwein or Fondue during the après-ski.

Summer

Best activity in summer is surely hiking the many trails around the village, with breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. One can also ride up above 3000m to Jungfraujoch, with the highest railway in Europe, to cool down amongst the perennial snow of the Jungfrau mountain summit.

Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg

  • 9.5km out-and-back | 269m elevation
  • 2h 40m hiking time | June ~ September

Considered a moderately challenging trail, it's very popular for amazing viewpoints on Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald valley, plus breath-taking Jungfrau and Eiger mountains.

Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg

  • 8.5km out-and-back | 856m elevation
  • 3h 10m hiking time | May ~ October

Considered a challenging route due to the high elevation gain, you'll be rewarded with lots of wildflowers and views over Wengen village, Mönch and Eiger mountains, plus lovely Silberhorn peak on the Jungfrau.

Wengen to Mürren

  • 9.2km out-and-back | 905m elevation
  • 4h 10m hiking time | May ~ October

Considered a challenging route a bit hard on your joints, due to the steep descent from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen, it's great to discover in one day three typical small villages of the area and choose your favourite one.
